NY (AP) Rock recluse Axl Rose made a surprise radio appearance to proclaim that Guns N Roses 10 yrs-in-the-making “Chinese Democracy” album will finally hit store shelves this fall.
The comments Sat. on Eddie Trunk’s syndicated radio show marked the first interview the painfully private rose has given since his failed 2002 comeback tour, which was abruptly scrapped midway amid riots and canceled shows.
Roses impromptu appearance came when former Skid row frontman Sebastian Bach, who was co-hosting the show, called Rose’s cell phone and patched the call through the studio.
Quizzed on when the near mythical album would come out, Rose said, “Sometime this fall or late fall.” His band could be heard rehearsing in the background. “It will be out this year.”
Trunk invited Rose to drop by the studio, and about an hr. later he did.
Asked about the aborted 2002 comeback tour, which ended when Rose failed to appear for a gig in PA, Rose told trunk he felt pressured into doing it before he was ready. But he insisted he had no regrets, since the short lived tour helped the new band members to gel. (The 2002 lineup included keyboard player Dizzy Reed from the original GNR, former Nine Inch Nails guitarist Robin Finck, bassist Tommy stinson form the Replacements, guitar shredder Buckethead, drummer Brina “Brian” Mantia formerly of Primus, guitarist Richard Fortus form the former Psychedelic Furs and Love Spit Love, and keyboard player Chris Pittman.)
“Can you tell people why the tour ended at that point?” asked Trunk. “Umm, no, not exactly.” said Rose, declining to discuss it.
Plans are currently in the works for Rose to relaunch his comeback by playing four shows at NY’s Hammerstein Ballroom over the next 10 days.

Well obviously Kevin doesn’t know music very well. Axel I think you have a great voice and I remember seeing you a couple of years ago singing live at a music awards show. You were awesome. Glad to hear you are back. I love Rock and Roll and so does my 14 year old son who unfortunately was in a horrible motorcycle accident on March 8, 2006. first of all… wtf? everyone’s whining like lil bastards on here. Guns N’ Roses DID NOT make rock what it is… they are far from the most successful and infulential rock band out there. Don’t get me wrong, i like a lot of their stuff… but they have a problem with making almost every single song sound the same. Lets look back on the bands that actually made rock the way it is today… well… the two biggest ones would most likely be The Beatles and… of course… Led Zeppelin. THEY are the bands that made rock what it is.
But… why is everyone insulting everyone else’s taste of music? I’m a huge classic rock fan (only being 16 i know more stuff then most rockers who are in their 40’s) but I have branched out interests. I do listen to some rap, club music, modern rock, metal, death metal, so on…. Music of today is good it’s just you need to get off your lazy ass and look for it! and about that rap person insulting rock music for not rhyming… first of all… not all poetry rhymes dumbass. almost all songs are poetry. Secondly… a lot of rockers lyrics rhyme (Alice Cooper’s almost always rhyme) and their is prob more rock songs that have meanings behind them then rap songs. Ohh… and I’m Canadian too… and learn to spell canadian… dumbass… I’m ashamed to have you be from Canada… you give us a bad name.

I saw him last night in concert and yes it aint the real deal with the rest of the band but still they were absolutely fantastic, i will never get another chance to see them perform again but the memory of last night will stay with me forever. Wow!! I’ve just seen axel again with my own eyes and again he took my breath away. His presence at the manchester evening news arena tonight the 23rd july was vibrant and rocking!! You still have what it takes axel. his voice is still powerful and in key, hes slowed up since 93 at maine rd but who hasn’t! I do have to mention that i missed slash and duffy,especially when november rain and sweet child were performed…..but still carn’t take axels performance away from him. Im 13 and i love listening to rock music, i was brought up to it! def leppard, deep purple, led zeppelin, motorhead, acdc, i know them all. lol. i hate all the emo music that is around because they all just say about the same thing and all of the music sounds the same and its really depressin but most of my mates love it. I love guns and roses,my favourite song of theirs is sweet child o mine. my friend nina went to see them in manchester in july and she sed they were great, i dont really keep up with all about whos left the band and whos doin what now because its not about tht its the music thats important. just listen to the music and enjoy it, if gnr do get back together then they do and thts gud, but if they dont fair enough you cnt make them just enjoy the music they have already done and be happy with it.
